Grow a Postpartum Rehab Practice in the Hospital and Home
Self-Paced CourseWe share your vision to improve birth recovery earlier
Less than 5% of all maternity hospitals in the United States offer a rehab evaluation after birth during postpartum admission. This practice-driven course prepares clinicians to offer their services directly to clients in the hospital, home, and community within the first 0 - 6 weeks after birth. Clinicians will learn how to develop an independent, sustainable practice that empowers mothers and their families to obtain the support they need earlier for a successful birth experience and postpartum recovery.
Strategies to grow your practice
Resources you need to successfully launch:
- Grow a Practice in the Hospital: Training broadens your scope on the hospital maternal care team by screening red flags and providing interventions within the first 24 - 48 hours after birth, including recovery strategies for pelvic injury, unplanned cesarean section, and making community-based referrals including postpartum doula support
- Grow a Virtual Postpartum Practice: Training covers what you need to create a virtual postpartum rehab practice that is accessible during pregnancy to home by individuals who benefit from early education, preparation, and early access to postpartum recovery options
- Grow a Practice in the Home and Community: Training provides practical strategies on building a maternal health business and collaborating with community partners e.g. doulas, lactation consultants, and birth providers to expand rehab services within the first 0 - 6 weeks after delivery
Distinguish your practice in every birth setting, including the hospital, and collaborate with other members of the maternal care team.

Dr. Juan Michelle Martin, PT, DPT is a former NICU therapist who has provided expert care for mothers and their infants in the hospital within the first 24 - 48 hours after birth. She started her private practice in 2016 and continued to treat patients during postpartum hospital admission as a contracted provider. Her business contracts locally with community partners and has held contracts with Georgia's Department of Public Health to enhance maternal and child outcomes through rehab and educational services. She trains occupational and physical therapists to expand their practice as birth support providers through a doula business model that enhances maternal care in the hospital and community. Dr. Martin believes every person should have access to the birth support and postpartum recovery experience they want and does not believe that clinicians should be hindered by administrative policies that delay rehab services to birthing families. Her mission is to equip every rehab provider with the tools they need to successfully grow their practice and serve the maternal health community sooner.
